Things that have made me smile....

I have had a couple of moments to stop and smile this week. We all have these moments, but often we are too busy to really stop and take it in. That is what I have been trying to do lately. Stop, absorb and appreciate. Usually the moments are brief and mostly they are not extraordinary, but everyday, we all have a lot to appreciate.

Made up words like lagerator. Jack had to fix the 'lagerator' on the machine gun at Portarlington.

That Paul thinks I look best in flannelette pj's!?

This sign in Port.

Must be because they are from a fishing village that they put so much faith in cod!?!

Jack saying, after he had fallen from his bike in a spectacular crash. "I musn't give up Mum. Gran said if I can't do something the first time, I have to try and try again. Sniff, sniff."

This tree.

Someone really thought about this.
Did they buy the dummy especially?

This reflection.

Speaks for itself. Beautiful isn't it.

These baby chicks at kinder.

So keep a look out. Even the most mundane can bring a smile to your dial...
Then share them with someone.

Trash & Treasure Saturday

So, what do you do on a Saturday when it threatens rain that never arrives?
You have cleaned up after the kids painted wonderful art; lunched with unexpected guests; tidied the house and washed the clothes?

You dress up as pirates of course and got to Queenscliff for a treasure hunt!

Run by the Sea Scouts, the kids had to find burried medalions which were then swapped for gifts. After a collection of plastic bits and pieces we won a family pass to the Queenscliff Fort. We'll have to swap our swashbuckling gear for slouch hats.

Hair Eating Monster Seen Wearing Dinosaur Dress!

I made this dress on Sunday night out of an old curtain (Thanks Mia).
Pip loves dinosaurs at the moment and the day never ends without a quick dinosaur story before bed.
I tried to pretty it up with a green frill at the bottom and added lace and flower to the pocket.
Amazingly, she loves it and so do I!

Pig Out Rollover...

I have figured out how to use the rollover properly now.
These photos were taken a couple of Christmas's ago. We used lollies as a bribe to sit still for the photo shoot. They were eaten with such gusto that the shoot was useless but boy was it funny!

                        Thursday is our slow day...
Thursday is the only day that we don't have to be anywhere at any time. I don't have to fight, rush, plead or threaten. We can take it easy and what's more relaxing than spending a day in your PJ's cooking toast on an open fire...

Fringe Festival.

I keep these photos of Ben and I on the fridge.
They make me laugh, we look like street urchins.
After getting the kids haircut yesterday, I thought I recognised some similarities,
what do you think?

What a Wiggly Good Time!

We went to see The Wiggles today. I must admit, I have been looking forward to it more than the kids have. We met up with Jack's "new best kinder mate" Ben and old friends Jai and Amanda.

As was to be expected, Pip and Jai danced and sang their way through the entire concert while Jack and Ben sat back and watched quietly. (Admittedly, Amanda and I sang an awful lot too.)

The performers obviously love their jobs because they laughed and carried on throughout the concert...I'd love my job too if I was earning millions a year I suspect.

The Owl and The Pussycat

The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
in a beautiful pea green boat...

Pre kids, I had a boating thing going on. I thought I would never get pregnant so I needed a project. This was it. Her name is ‘Pippi.' She may not be beautiful, but she is mine.

I also got a smaller dingy ‘Little Jimi.’ Dad brought her home from the tip and I have spent some time on her in Swan Bay.

Then along came Jack and Pip and since then, both boats have sat idle and in need of repair.

Finally, after nearly 5 years, the work is almost complete.  Little Jimi will be ready in time for the Queenscliff Maritime Festival.  My aim is to attend the blessing of the fleet.

I’ll keep you posted.
