Winter Days Are Cool!

Winter days are cool! Everything is crisp and fresh and clean.
Some believe there's nothing to do, but I think they are mean.
Rug up tight and step outside and breathe that winter air.
Get yourself moving and get your bottom off that comfy chair.
Put a message in a bottle and sail it out to sea.
You just might find a reply one day and won't that be a treat.

The Adventures of Jeremy and Mr. Crab.

How To Build A Raft...
Collect some dry logs that are roughly the same diameter.

Bind the logs together securely.

Find a sturdy mast and anchor in place with remaining ties.

Attach a sail.

Find a brave crew: Mr.Crab.

Give it a name: Jeremy.

Set sail and hope for fine weather.

Ensure you have loved one's waiting at the other end.

God be with you S.S. Jeremy!

Lucy Duck Update

Lucy has been a very docile patient.
The vet staff all commented on how friendly she was and easy to handle.
We have never been able to pick her up at all, she is way too fast.

I have mastered the art of medicating and disinfecting now so it is all over fairly quickly.

I let her have a swim in the bath twice a day which she enjoys.

Pip is in her element. She says she wants to be a nurse.

One more day of medications and she can go back outside where she belongs.
Looks like a trip to Geelong on Saturday to get her a sister.

Four Funerals and a Wedding

We have had a bad run with pets lately. All of our beautiful little Gouldian finches have died due to cold weather we suspect, although a neighbors roaming cat may have played a part.

The original parent finches were a gift to Paul when Jack was born and we added a couple more to increase the bloodlines. They are apparently hard to breed but we have had no such trouble and have had several batches of sweet babies.

All gone.

Wednesday morning after returning from Kinder drop off, ballet class and a sneak preview of Mia's darling baby Jessie, I came home to carnage.

Some complete idiot (Me) let out the flock first thing in the morning and did not check all gates were secured. Jimi Dog got in and had a play.

He left the chooks alone but the ducks were another story. I wrapped them in towels and took them to the vet to be put down. Granny duck was the worst off so, was put to sleep immediately but Lucy was a saver.

We now have a hospital set up in the bathroom and I have to clean her wounds and give antibiotics twice a day.

I admit I was going to save myself the trouble (and money) and even had the green needle drawn up at the vets, but when she looked up at me with those big doe eyes I couldn't do it. I wouldn't be a good farmer. I'd become vegetarian for sure.

I have to take full responsibility, the dog was just doing what dogs do.

The wedding was a simple affair. The bride resplendid in a white veil, the dress modern and chic. The groom very dashing in a herringbone waistcoat. All agreed they made a very handsome couple.

The Stingrayz

Obviously this boy has no taste in music!

The Stingrayz wowed a huge crowd last weekend at the annual Ocean Grove Festival on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Thought to be one of the best Rockin' Blues band the country has seen, the elated fans grooved the night away.

"They were simply awesome!" One fan commented.
"That drummer really knows how to play. His use of the sticks leaves me blown away."

In unconfirmed reports, it is rumoured that ladies bloomers were thrown from the crowd, heart monitors worked overtime and walking frames were littering the dancefloor.

Police were called when one woman accosted the bass player.
"But he is such a spunk!" She was heard yelling when removed from the premises.

Stayed tuned as The Stingrayz rock their way into the Australian Music Hall of Fame.
Next Gig to be confirmed.

Autumn Leaves Me Silly

We went into town the other day for a dentist appointment
and found a huge pile of autumn leaves.
Even as an adult I can't resist that crinkly, crackly, crunchy
pleasure that comes from a tromp through autumn leaves.

And of course throwing them around...

And who needs an excuse to just pose a little?
...in front of blue walls.

 ...in front of green walls.

...and just generally be silly.

Tuille and Stickers

I have been making a big effort to snap myself out of my low.

We went to Max's 1st birthday party.

I have been craving sunshine and salads so I have enjoyed both.

I have been cuddling more and growling less.

I have made sticker reward charts for good children.

I have been surrounded by tuille and taffeta...and let's face it.

Who could possibly be cross in a room full of ballerinas?
