Meltdown Moments

Is anyone else out there feeling the start of the winter blues?

I am so grumpy and frumpy and gruff.
The poor old kids don't stand a chance as I am growling away nonstop.

When I get like this I just want to curl up in bed (alone please!)and eat Nutella by the spoonful.

What Is She Trying To Tell Me Really?

It is 7.15 am and Pip decides I need a make over.
What is she trying to tell me really?
The kids join in the fun...
Poor old Paul is woken with a lipstick in the face and a makeover of his own.

A Pretty Little Apple.

I was wandering around Mia's garden whilst she was out.
(Yes, I tend to do things like that!) and...

I saw a pretty little apple sitting on a post
When I turned it over I discovered it was toast.
There were all kinds of critters living deep inside,
The tiny little insects had opened it wide.
I thought of James and The Giant Peach,
But decided such an adventure was far out of reach.
Instead of finding it disgusting or considering it gory
I kind of got a kick out of the fact that here was another story

I have a challenge for you now, whoever brings the biggest smile to my dial with some kind of life metaphore or a silly little poem about Mia's apple will receive a surprise gift from me.
Come on creative thinkers, log on and post a comment.

Little Miss Cosmopolitan

This is Erin, cute isn't she.
Erin is modelling a super soft bamboo wool scarf and beret.
Unlike someone else's daughter who will not wear my creations, Erin is happy to.
I think this little doll is going to be the recipient of a few handmade Pip rejects.

Rainbow Soup and Candle Lights.

We have all got colds and this lousy weather is definitely not conducive to outdoor play.
The kids are wearing a track throughout the house on their little bikes but that's OK.

The sky maybe gloomy but there are sparks of colour in everyday life.
Watching the ducks watch us.

The ingredients for rainbow soup.

 Kids artworks.

Fish and Chips by candle light.

Finding Peace with Mr. Fowler.

I am trying to hide in the toilet with the iPad in my quest for peace.
The kids have found the tin whistles and are blowing up at racket.
The dog is singing too, howling in a voice that sounds a lot like pain.

Oh no. They have found me and are now playing in here with me, even the dog.
The sound is reverberating in the small room against the tiles and shower.
Maybe if I ignore them long enough they will go away.

My plan seems to be working, they have all gone.
Unfortunately, so too has my sanity.

Happy Birthday Daddy

I did receive a Mother's Day pressy afterall.
For some boy reason, I just had to wait until 2pm, that's all.
It is now hanging pride of place in the laundry because I have run out of walls!

 Happy birthday Paul.
This is a painting by Jack. It is the expedition to find his Dad.
Wonderful.

These paper flowers were made by Pip and Mummy.
Daddy can have a garden inside now.

It's Mother's Day Everyday

"Oh well," she says, her head hanging low.

It is 10.16am and so far I have made 3 beds, folded 2 loads of washing, hung out another 2, swept the floors, tidied up, cooked pancakes, loaded the dishwasher, dressed Jack, let Pip dress herself in totally inappropriate summer clothes, attended to a small medical matter and I could stand it no longer.

"Does anyone remember what special day it is and have anything special they might have made?"
Apparently not. Something is going to happen at kinder in a few weeks time.

For Mother's Day yesterday we went to the park with Nana Chris
and blew dandelion clocks into the breeze.

We went to Mary's for a yummy tea and the kids had a bath in her laundry tub.

This afternoon we are off to Granny's for afternoon tea and a birthday cake for Paul who is having a birthday on Tuesday.

A Pretty Little Sign.

Unfortunately, as our house is on a sweeping bend, in a curving and way too skinny street, drivers tend to get a little rush and floor it. Whilst it may not be Albert Park, it doesn't seem to slow them down.
Since the kids have got more mobile and play out in the court more, I have stategically placed signs on the lightpost outside our place. They tend to get vandalled after a few months and need replacing.

I have however, tried to make the signs look friendly.
We wanted a pink sign but didn't have white paint.
Pink and orange are Pip's favourite colours you see!

Would this nudge at the conscience or just make people sick?

Surely glitter would also help our cause. Flowers are nice too.
It looks so pretty.

Let's see if it works...
Actually, it is a bit hard to read, they'll have to slow down to do so.
